Flights were grounded earlier today in New Zealand, as an internal radar outage caused disruptions to aviation communications and monitoring systems.
All non-airborne flights were suspended and the outage affected around 50 airborne flights. Airways New Zealand said that the safety of any flight was not compromised and the suspension of flights was a precautionary safety measure.
The outage occurred around 1440hrs NZST and services resumed around 1630hrs with all flights returning to normal operations.
It is not yet known what caused the fault.
