‘Titanic’ Composer dies in plane crash.

Reports have surfaced that James Horner, one of the movie world's most recognisable composers and an Academy Award winner has perished today in a plane crash, upon which he was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

The plane, a turboprop Tucano registered in his name, was reported to have crashed in a dry riverbed in Southern California causing a small blaze that local fire authorites were able to extinguish.

Celebrities and colleagues from the movie industry have expressed their condolences via Twitter.


James Horner was a highly experienced pilot with several planes registered in his name. He is well known for composing musical scores for such movies as Titanic, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Troy and Avatar.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
